The Kindness of Strangers...
Lets see... what Id do this week...
Saturday after work I went over to my friend form work Michael's house and checked out some of his mixes... not bad, although a few are a little on the club-cheese side... but it is admirable how well he's set up... makes some decent money webcasting and web-DJing... for verizon no less... which is strange considering he works with me at t-mobile... lol
When I left, car wouldnt start. First I thought it was just low gas, so I walked a few blocks to the gas station for a gallon (it wasnt far, and besides, I needed the excersise)... the gas station was kind enough to let me use one of their jugs, and on the way back, I ran into a neighbor who parks next to me... She offered to give me a lift back to the car, which was so very nice of her, considering that I dont really know her that well...
The world would be a much better place if there were more people like her...
Got back to the car, filled it up, still wouldnt start. Ok, maybe its the battery. Luckily, Michael had some friends with him to look at it. Turned out it wasnt the battery, it was the carborator. A quick cleaning, and it was ready to go. Got home, Brain popped by, and we watched some DS9 for a little bit...
DeusDioblous (I still dont know how to link friends on this thing, just click on the friends sidebar link and find him yourself) had a birthday this week... I was a tad disappointed that they forgot to invite me to his party thing, but it wasnt a big deal... these things have a habit of spontaniously happening without invitations being issued. I got him a copy of Macho Man Randy Savage's rap album... lol I thought it would be a twisted enough gift for him...
Weds. I stopped by Ricki Dees pad, and we watched some bootleg VH1 documentaries of the history of punk, and the Iggy Pop behind the music special. Now he's done it, now Im all turned on to Iggy Pop... gotta get some of his stuff... Also went through some of his old comics... I was astonished to find that he had a near mint copy of Hulk 181- the 1st appearance of Wolverine... valued at approximatly 1500.00-2500.00... it was like solid gold... also went through some of his Crumb and Yummy Fur stuff...
I also finished reading the 1st volume of American Splendor, and I find myself in love with Harvey Pekar's work... stories of a live alone intellectual bachelor who works at a dead end job, doesnt have much success with women, but still keeps his sense of humour, aesthetic, and soul... its great...
Saw Underworld tonight... I was a little apprehensive about seeing it after browsing the local newspaper reviews, but I thought I would give it a shot being that it was the last night showing at the 2nd run theatres... Its actualy not that bad.,... its no citizen kane of course, but its no Gili either... think Blade and Romeo and Julliet meshed.... plot starts off a little sloppy, but it becomes actualy more engrosing as it develops with enough twists to keep it interesting, plus there is pleanty of room for a sequel as well... I also enjoyed the ambiquity of the characters... no one is completely evil, nor completely good... as far as the whole love intrest, its there, but it doesnt become the center of the plot and the character motivation. That, and Kate Beckensale looks very nice in her leather outfit...
Tomarrow, I meet with Steve, his lady friend Mich, and maybe Luke, to look at the potential house, then to see Big Fish... I was really hoping to ask out ____ being that I have not seen her in almost 3 months, or talked to her since December... but since Im never able to get ahold of her, guess Ill have to settle for someone else... sigh... but thats life... sometimes you just have to take the hit...
And yes, life has a lot of hits, and sometimes it may seem like more to bear... but then I think of all my friends... the people I can rely on, and then things dont seem so bad... I may have my doubts about them from time to time, true, and there are times when I feel guilty about showing enough appreciation for them, but I do, always remember that...
Whats that line? "No Man is a failure who has friends"

Use <lj user="deusdiabolus">.
If you're talking about him coming over to our house, it was actually a surprise to me. I didn't even know it was his B-Day until he got there, and we already had a few ppl over, so... It was a spontaneous thing and we didn't even want to have a party that night.
Anyway, you know you're welcome at our house. As well, you know Finn's goes on every Saturday and you're welcome there. We don't invite anyone... they usually just show up. (Altho, it would be nice to know ppl are coming over before they actually do.)
