Syriana... A movie about the various character types involved in the politics, religion, and economics of the middle east... the american CIA agent, the american financial anyalist, the progressive middle-eastern prince, the peasant musilim suicide bomber, the texas oil baron, the laywers, the unscrupulious middle eastern oil princes, etc... I thought that the characters where very interesting and engaging, and I liked how they tried to tie them all together... However, I found the plot most of the time was just meandering around aimlessly, with too much going on that wasnt really needed to tie in everything... and at times it does get a little heavy-handed... a good film, but not a great film... then again, I probably need to see it a few more times in order to get it to click... lol, actualy, I was mostly seeing it just to see Alexander Siddig in a new role, because Im a horrible closet trekkie, lol...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire... Now, Ive never read the books, and probably never will, but I have enjoyed the movies... this I found to be a good, fun movie, better than the last one I thought (not to say that the last one was all that bad, mind you)... while at the same time being well balanced with all sorts of evil darkness... the dance scene was so great... and... YES.... in case any of you muggle geeks (or whatever it is you Potter-heads call yourselves)... that was PULP playing at the dance! One of my all time favorite bands, which was a pleasant surprise... as with the other two, there were pleanty of intriguing plot twists, and surprises throughout the movie, without being too obvious in who was the big villain... and that guy with the eye... I did get a kick out of him... lol I kinda wish I had a teacher like that...

but yeah, other than that... Im thinking of seeing Aeon Flux on friday.... on saturday and Sunday Ill be in Wichita for the holidays... I really want to go see Mirrormask if its still playing down there, so if you wichita kids wanna go see it on christmas eve, hook me up (or, if you want me to stop by and say hello some time this weekend, let me know)

for the most part, Ive kinda shyed away from the books, not only due to never having the time to devote to reading, but also due to the fact that it appears to have a bit of a striking resemblance to Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Books_of_Magic) series he did back in 1990, about a british kid with glasses and a pet owl who learns about magic...

the books are something I curious about though... maybe someday after I get through some of my other books Ive been meaning to read, Ill crack one of them open
