28 August 2005-
It was the day of the company picnic, but of course, I had to work anyway.... but to their credit, they did cater with free meals that day... and the televisions where they show stats was switched to cartoons... of the vintage variety from the 30s and 40s... complete with the racial stereotyping that was common of the day... lol, they probably didnt realize it at the time, but I was kinda surprised that they were showing them... Not that I minded of course....

Nonetheless... I had more important things to do that day.... the one day I had that week to move, and because of UHaul's fuck up (appearntly, their idea of a reservation is a "we'll call you on that day, and see what we have, and get you whatever we have"), I hadnt gotten everything moved over in one trip... which of course just means more gas to consume (which is 60.00 round trip).... THEN... it started raining... fucking a. Anyway, after work, I got the car loaded up as much as possible, in the rain, and left.... still with more things to come back for....

I ended up taking the cat with me... I couldnt find anyone to take care of her for me... and ultimately, I dont think I could bare to give her up for adoption.... which meant 2 1/2 hours in a car with her yelling and meowing the whole way there... she doesnt like road trips, much less being put in her critter carrier....

On the way out... I think it was around Kechi... one the furthest reaches of Wichita... just as the rain was dieing down.... it was a perfect rainbow, a complete arch, with the highway right in the middle of the arch... like a giant gateway out of the city... And there I went, off into the sunset, to live happily ever after....

The next day at work, they wernt exactly sure where to place me... Didnt know where my work section was going to be, who my boss was going to be, etc... After bouncing back and forth between sections, they eventualy found out that my work team wasnt going to be there until the end of the week. Ah well. On the plus side, I didnt have to take calls for most of the day... Friday, I found out that they still had my paycheck in Wichita. They overnighted it to KC for me which was nice, but then I had the problem of cashing it. Appearantly, a Wichita Commerce Bank account is not the same thing as a KC Commerce bank account. So, once I have enough money to open one, Ill have to do that....

Then, the following days, getting unpacked.... I caught a flu bug, which probably came from the over-exertion from moving... so that delaying getting around and about in the city.... then the next week, I was supposed to get my cable net hooked up again, which never happened... who knows what happened, but ultimately, I had to wait another freaking week to get my internet hooked up- Workplace did have some internet access for email, but very limited... wasnt able to look up my journal things, etc... (Which Im just catching up on now)... Then I had to go back to Wichita for more boxes, then the day after that, I spent that entire day in total pain of the back, couldnt walk, couldnt move... once again, pushing myself too far... but then again, I have to... I really do not have too much help in these things at the moment....

And now, I still need to go back to wichita, to pick up some more things... more money to spend (which I dont have at the moment)

The past few days, I have been going out a little bit, meeting some people from the local "seen"... fortunatly, there were some people that I already knew who were able to introduce me to new folks... it was great to actualy be able to go out, enjoy myself, listen to music, without having to worry about those dastardly plots, those insincere smiles, those gossiping children, etc... Granted, most certainly there is that here in KC, but it seems to be less consentrated than in Wichita... ultimately, yes, much better, more friendlier here.

I think Im going to like it here. Once I get settled down and used to it. New things can be intimidating, especialy when you are alone. But its good, to have fresh starts, blank slates....

Aww poor Kitty. She didn't have a huge shock, where she didn't go around you for a few days, did she?

Hopefully you'll have a great time up there. Meet some awesome people, and share some awesome stories.

normaly, she just hides and sulks, until she gets used to her surroundings... although there were some annoying times, when she would crawl up on my bed in the middle of the night, and start licking me.... guuuhhhh I hate that
