Just got back from Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events... [livejournal.com profile] life_unwanted was kind enough to accompany me... even after I was running about 10 minutes late due to needing to run gas to my stranded housemate.....

I wish I lived in Lemony Snickets world.... When I grow up, I want to be Count Orloff 8)- A crazy encentric reclusive abusive actor-wannabe, plotting to steal the inheritance from unfortunate orphans... lol, and if my ward looked as cute as that girl, Id want to marry her too *blush*... It reminds me of a mix between Dr. Seuss and Tim Burton... Im still trying to figure out if that really was Dustin Hoffman making an uncredited cameo...

Anyway... the year is almost up... It doesnt feel like the end of a year... the weather right now is more akin to fall... maybe even spring... definitly not complaining mind you... Actualy, with the way things have been going lately, primarly my rekindling of relations between myself and Ashley, I feel as if this isnt an end of an old year, more like the begining...

...of a new year

Resolutions? Hmmm... perhaps maybe to be more human, again. Be more sociable, etc... perhaps have more faith in people that I know... we'll see what happens...

Anyway, this year has been pretty damned good as far as new Music releases go... here is my top list for 2004

1. Rasputina- Frustration Plantation
2. Ministry- Houses of Mole' (their best since Psalms)
3. Rammstein- Reise Reise
4. The Dresden Dolls- Self-Titled
5. Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids- Lunchboxes and Choklit Cows (collection various spooky kids songs, remasted by Daisy Berkowitz for blatant commercial gain, now tied up in royalty limbo with court orders to cease production... still awesome work, and its great to finaly see these wonderful works digital remastered and on an official release)
6. Nirvana- With the Lights Out (nirvana at their purest)
7. PJ Harvey- Uh Huh Her
8. Franz Ferdinand- Self Titled (best new band so far)
9. Frontline Assembly- Civilized
10. Einsturzende Neubauten- Perpetuum Mobile
11. Beastie Boys- To The Five Burroughs
12. Skinny Puppy- Greater Wrong of the Right
13. Prodigy- Always Outnumbered but Never Outgunned
14. Juno Reactor- Labrynith
15. Modest Mouse- Good News For People Who Like Bad News
16. Buckethead- Cukoo Clocks From Hell (good, but not outstanding)
17. The Cure- Self Titled (not bad, but sounds too much like their previous 2 albums)
18. Orbital- the Blue Album
19. Bella Morte- As the Reasons Die (good, but not outstanding)
20. Chemlab- Oxidizer (not bad tracks, and I liked how they used allusion to their previous songs, but nothing really stood out on this album, as compared to their other albums)
21. Marilyn Manson- Lest We Forget (its still just a best of album, although it was good to have the dvd)
22. Seraphim Shock- Halloween, Sex and Vegas (a band trying to be something they're not... some tracks werent that bad, but still, a waste of their talent)
23. Voodoo Organist- Holy Ghost Town
24. Cradle of Filth- Nymphetamine (definitly a far cry from their earlier work, in which were their inclusion of orchestrial samples and operatic themes made them unique in the death metal world... now lately though, it sounds like they are drifting into becoming just another bland speed metal band filled with screaming and guitars... no strings or movements, etc.)
25. Orgy- Punk Static Paranoia (this album didnt stand out to me at all... then again, I probably need to listen to it again)

I also purchessed Nick Cave's Abbatoir Blues and Buckethead's Population Override, but I havnt had a chance to listen to the albums yet... but should be noted as important 2004 releases

Albums that I missed out on this year:
Alien Sex Fiend- Information Overload
Kittie- Until the End
Nine Inch Nails- Bleed Through (never did get realsed when it was supposed to...)
Velvet Revolver- Self Titled
Pig Symphony- Self Titled
Raymond Watts- Pigmartyr
Les Claypools Bucket of Bootsie Brains- The Everfloating Eye
Monster Magnet
My Life with the THrill Kill Kult
Tom Waits
Laibach- Anthems
Bjork- Medulla
Probot
Auf Der Maur- Self Titled

And while these albums were not released in 2004, they are noteworthy as important purchesses

Ladytron- 604
Cool World Soundtrack
Hanzel Und Gretyl- Uber Alles
Hazard County Girls
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Fever to Tell
Orbital- 2
Gary Numan- The Pleasure Principle
Collide- Chasing the Ghost
Add N to X- Avant Hard
Ghoultown- Give Em More Rope
Crispin H. Glover- The Solution...
The Stooges- Raw Power
Praga Khan- Freakazoids
Curve- Gift
Iggy Pop- Blah Blah Blah, Bricks Are Heavy
Offspring- ignition
Dead Can Dance- Toward the Within
Snake River Conspiracy
Combustable Edison- I, Swinger

And for Movies/DVD releases?

my favorites were (in no particular order)
Hellboy
Spider-Man 2
Big Fish
Rammstein- Lichtspielhaus
Laibach- Videos
Ren And Stimpy v.1
Invader Zim 1-3
Sliders v.1
Shaun of the Dead
Sky Captain and the World of Tomarrow
The Punisher (keep in mind, the punisher is a bland character (as a main character anyway) to begin with, but they did the best they could with what they had)
Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events
Donnie Darko
The Incredibles
Coffee and Cigarettes
Dawn of the Dead

And what were yours?

I THOUGHT he looked familiar... I think he had a short-lived sitcom...

I thought it kinda looked like John Cleese, but then I was thinking that his accent was too scottish, and didnt have the right build...
