Last night, I went to go see Easy Rider and Hell's Angels on Wheels at the Wichita Orpheum... despite the fact of once again begin drenched in another downpour on the way there... In fact, because officialy, the show was going to be rained out, but because a strong enough group of people showed up anyway, the Movie ended up being free, but since the place was non-profit, I did make sure to tip accordinly...

Easy Rider wasnt too bad... granted, it really shouldnt be regarded as more than something cooked up between Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper while on a drug binge, the scening Motorcycle shots were nice to look at, but there was so much deadweight in the film, I thought... The scenes with Jack Nicholson and the ending scene are what saved the film... I dunno though, given that at the time my cloaths were soaked, I was wet, and somewhat chilly, my mind wasnt probably much on the movie...

Hell's Angels on Wheels was much better I thought... this is what The Wild One would have been like if they casted real motorcycle hooligans instead of stand-in actors... it was interesting too to see Jack Nicholson play the straight laced square in the movie, instead of the crazy wildman or leacherous womanizer... and granted, it did suffer from some of that cheesey 60s youth danger Rebel without a cause element, I actualy thought it a pretty dignified look (as dignified as you can get I suppose) at the Hell's Angels and their little culture, their brand of loyalty, and their little internal disputes, and their relationship with the "squares"

And thats what I did last night... how about you?
