Walking in a Halloween Wonderland...
Still love this time of year.... even when I AM alone...
Friday night... went to go see Psycho and night of the living dead at the historic Wichita Orpheum theatre... Psycho is still a classic after all these years.... lol.... I soooo want to be like Anthony Perkins (evil grin)... Night of the Living dead... seems more like just another saturday night in Alabama... bunch of angry, slow white folk, trying to chase down one of those Negroes trying to sexualy assault and bitch-slap our white wimmin.... toss it in with being stuck in a house with Don Rickles, a dumb country boy redneck, zombies to the left of you, a lynching possee to the right, and a crazy broad that wont shut up about Johnny's car, and you got yourself one tight, yet halarious spot.... It was a fun film... yet somehow I dont think that movie went over too well in South Carolina... After going home, ___ called me up, and we went to Barleycorns where we saw a loud, but decent blues band.... getting bored, we then migrated to the anchor, a new coffee/alcohol bar type thing, where I saw the most remarkable and extensive port white stain birthmark ever on a person- going all the way up and down both sides and arms- up the the ears- completely darkened, with only the middle still being white... If I wasnt so prudent, I would have asked to take his picture... so I instead settled for discreetly staring.... so Im fascinated by these things, so what? If he didnt want people to stare, he should have not worn a basketball jersey...
yesterday... when on a bit of a shopping spree... 1st paid my rent, then went down to the tag office for renewal, but they were closed.... then went to the east side CD warehouse, ended up picking up the new Prodigy, New Order, and also the Star Wars trillogy box set DVD- still a bit of a fanboy about the first 3 movies, although star wars fanatics scare me a bit... but what scares me even more is George Lucas- Not only does he actualy feel the need to include a jamacian stereotype in his new movies, but he even RE-REVISED the dvd releases of the 1st three movies as well, with such rediculous and meaningless tweaks as re-casting anakin's ghost at the end of return of the jedi as Hayden Christensen, or whoever the hell it is that is playing Anikin in the new movies, and also redubbing all of Bobba Fett's lines to sound more like Jango Fett.... but then again, who is crazier- George Lucas for making all these stupid changes, or the people that notice them (FYI- the only reason why I know of them is because I read a CNN.COM article about them...) What pisses me off more is that George Lucas plans on never releaseing the original versions again.... I wouldnt mind if the DVD had the original AND the revised versions together so that both could be enjoyed... but JHC.... the original versions are the ones I grew up with damnit!!! And I wanna see them! Ah well... at least they can still be viewed on VHS...
Also stopped by the book stores... one of them were having a 1/2 off sale on their graphic novels, so of course I had to splurge there... Later that night, I went walking around the College Hill/Belmont district of town, which is pretty much the high-scale "old rich" part of town, where all the town millionares of the 20s lived... they always have the most beautiful halloween house decorations displayed, and its fun to see all the people walking up and down the block... I got pleanty of pictures, so expect to see them soon....
Later that night, I then went over to Josh's place, who was actualy over at Mickey's next door, where we spent most of the night drinking, trying to figure out his crazy x-box, and watching this bombasticaly drunk mexican guy rant and rave.... then went back to Josh's, ripped and burned a view bootlegg dvds, then watched the new dawn of the dead director's cut.... great movie as far as zombie slashers go...
Today- spend most of the day pumpkin carving, with a walk down to the store for some candles... no one has shown up yet for the open house... cant say Im disappointed... but then again, the night is young.... but not so young, now that daylight savings is over.... yes I know it actualy gives an extra hour for the day, but it still makes it seem more like time is lost than gained... ah well... time for the body to get adjusted again...
This week- Pick up my dad's old cat and take her home to take care of, get car engine checked, read more atlas shrugged, call Ash, see about spending weekend in Emporia, and vote. VOTE VOTE VOTE.... I dont give a shit if Bush is in the bag for Kansas. Just vote goddamnit... we ARE the silent majority this time around... its time to proove it.... but more on THAT later....
